It was a great pleasure and honor that Scientix was co-organizer of the Fourth Educonference 2018, held 31.03 – 01.04.2018 in hotel Drim, Struga. Conference had a clear STEM track. Noelle Billon, representative from Scientix project, gave a short introduction about the importance of the Scientix and the benefits for the students and STEM education in general. Short presentation about Scientix and opening minds and schools to STEM careers was carried out.
Presentation of the Friends of education’s activities as NCP so far was done. Results from the workshop with the stakeholders concerning STEM education in Macedonia were shared with the participants. New Scientix Ambassadors are were presented to the participants. Successful stories of Macedonian teachers concerning Scientix (different STEM competition) were emphasized in order to motivate Macedonian teacher to have active participation in this kind of events. Information about STEM Discovery week were shared.
Presentations from experts in STEM areas raised different discussions concerning STEM education on national level and how it should be improved. In parallel sessions workshops for teachers were carried out covering different STEM areas (math, chemistry, biology, physics etc). Teachers interest from these workshops was great.
Teachers at the Conference had the opportunity to talk and exchange ideas concerning STEM education at national level. Good STEM practices from Macedonian teachers were presented (results from the teachers’ competition) and discussions about them were started. Presentations about using ICT in STEM subjects were carried out and different workshops about STEM education were organized. Presentation of the STEM teachers’ activities and the expected impact of Scientix on STEM education in Macedonia was emphasized.
